Isla Santa Cruz

SantaCruz.webp

The central island, and second largest, Santa Cruz is named after the ship HMS Indefatigable, and has the largest population, with roughly 18,000 people. It is covered in forest and is biologically diverse both on land and in the surrounding sea.

Why visit Santa Cruz?

Santa Cruz is one of the major islands, home to the main species which made the Galapagos famous. The island has major features such as the El Chato Tortoise Reserve, one of the best places to see tortoises roaming in their natural environment. It is also home to more than half of the species  of Darwin's Finch, letting you see the range of adaptations. Finally, there are the Marine Iguanas, which are plentiful and found everywhere on the coast of Santa Cruz. The combination of these animals make this island a go to pick for visitors.
